two

They are both sensible men; lieutenants aboard Justinian. They don't have time for silly frivolities. They have duties. Yet they spend their time together always, and it never looks odd or out of place to any of the men aboard. Their names have become a pair, said together. They spend their little leisure in each other's company, and they brighten and smile.

If they stood before a mirror, they would see the two of them; hands on one another's shoulders; hands at one another's waists; sides touching; faces close. They would see the two of them. They belong that way.
